According to Chinese tradition, the emperor decreed a great race across the Earth to determine the twelve positions in the lunar cycle. Hot on the heels of the seventh-placed horse, the gentle yet steadfast goat journeyed alongside the lively monkey and spirited rooster. Facing a wide, rushing river near the finish line, the three united to brave the currents together. Driven by a calm determination, the goat led the charge, reached the far bank first, and crossed the line alongside its companions to secure eighth place from the emperor.

Those born under the Lunar Year of the Goat—including 2027, 2015, 2003, 1991, 1979, and every 12th preceding year—are known to be gentle souls blessed with an innate gift for compassion and creativity. A delicate plum blossom tree frames the composition, representing purity and hope, alongside the Chinese character for 'Goat', the 'GOAT 2027' text, and the 'P' mintmark. The obverse features the contemporary effigy of His Majesty King Charles III, complete with weight, purity, and monetary denomination.
