The Quadrant Dragon set consists of four coins that each comprise one quarter of a circle. When arranged together the coins form a circle with a square in the centre reminiscent of the first currency of the Chinese empire. These 'ban liang' coins were first cast during the Qin Dynasty around 200BCE.

The dragon is significant in traditional Chinese culture as one of the 12 animals that participated in the Emperor's Great Race, held to determine the order of their appearance in the lunar calendar. A benevolent creature said to control water and weather, the dragon finished fifth, and has subsequently reigned during every fifth year in the 12-year lunar cycle - including 1952, 1964, 1976, 1988, 2000, 2012, and 2024.

Bestowed with instinctive bravery, persistence, and intelligence, those born in the Year of the Dragon are regarded as ambitious, charismatic, and successful.

Struck by The Perth Mint from 99.99% pure silver, each coin is issued as legal tender under the authority of the Government of Tuvalu.

The Perth Mint will release no more than 1,500 of the Year of the Dragon Quadrant 2024 1oz Silver Proof Coloured Four Coin Set.

The top coin's reverse portrays Ao Shun, the Black Dragon, a pagoda-topped mountain and representations of clouds that are repeated throughout the artistry. The right-sided coin's reverse depicts Ao Guang, a rocky waterfall, and a moon bridge spanning the upper reach of a river. On the left-sided coin, the reverse design depicts Ao Run, the White Dragon, trees and forked lightning. The bottom coin's reverse portrays Ao Qin, the Red Dragon splashing in a river where a tributary meets the main channel. Each coin's reverse includes The Perth Mint's 'P' mintmark.

The obverse of each coin bears the Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II supplemented by the years of her reign '1952-2022', its weight and purity, monetary denomination and 2024 year-date.

The coin set is housed in a classic display case with a clear lid decorated with a silver geometric design. The case is packaged in a beautifully illustrated shipper and is accompanied by a numbered certificate of authenticity.
