The first release in the Megafauna series from Germania Mint features the Cave Lion, one of the most iconic predators of the Ice Age. The 2026 Republic of Liberia Megafauna: Cave Lion Oblivion 20 Dollars 1 oz Silver BU coin pays tribute to this extraordinary creature, combining historical precision with artistic craftsmanship.

Designed by Kinga Sabatowicz, the artwork masterfully blends realism and symbolism. The limited-edition 2026 Republic of Liberia Megafauna: Cave Lion Oblivion 20 Dollars 1 oz Silver BU coin will be available in a mintage of 999 pieces with Black Light Colours and Antiqued Finish, each presented in a minimalist box and accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity.

Design

On the obverse, the Cave Lion is depicted in full readiness, set against a backdrop of mountains and ancient forests. Its powerful body, sharp fangs, and claws reflect the strength and dominance of this apex predator.

The reverse showcases a unique Germania Mint design, featuring the lion’s skull and paw print, surrounded by the tracks of other prehistoric animals that will appear in future releases of the Megafauna series. The composition is completed by the effigy of the Republic of Liberia and the Germania Mint mintmark, confirming the coin’s authenticity.
